SCi CDi3 Digital Controller
Controller Primary Enclosure
Controller Secondary Enclosure
  • Pressure measurement: strictly Keller-digital, PA10 digital transmitters never need calibration. TR = pressure TRansmitter = PA10 series RS485 digital pressure transmitter as supplied by Keller in Switzerland. These are state-of-art devices, silicone oil and laser-welded diaphragm isolated, with Hastelloy C276 stainless wetted parts. The company allows its clients to buy just the essentials and thus subsequently design and build their own housings, only one type of pressure transmitter to stock!
  • Battery chemistry: strictly NiMH, low self-discharge.
  • Cylinders: strictly machine threaded 316 SS. Communications: strictly RS485, units communicate with computer on primary channel, "talk" to their Kellers on secondary channel. Primary channel: 115,200 baud, secondary: 9,600 baud. Power cycle: 2.5 seconds, pressure transmitters powered up for 0.7 seconds.
  • They all record their own battery voltage and after more than 10 consecutive bad battery readings disable switching, if device is a switcher, and stop recording.
  • They all support Hardware Authorization and Debug Output. One box, nine functions, two simple flow meters (#0, #1), five switchers (#2, #3, #4, #5, #6), and two switching flow meters (#7 and #8).

Function #5 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 1-TR digital submersible switcher application.
Capability: Timed switching only, cannot record flow.
Function #6 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 1-TR digital submersible switcher application.
Function #6 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 1-TR digital submersible switcher application.
Capability: Timed switching only, cannot record flow.
Functions #0 and #1, firmware numbers 6720 and 6731 respectively, shown on the right are strictly flow metering functions. The first two digits in the firmware numbers represent the hardware family, "67" in this case means CorvetteI, next digit is the number of transmitters used, "2" for function #0 and "3" for function #1. The last digit is the implemented function itself, "0" for function #0 and "1" for function #1. These two functions are the simplest to implement as they do not require the use of the standard PVC frame nor the use of any hoses. Click the pictures for larger versions.
Functions #2, #3 and #4, firmware 6712, 6723, and 6734 are as before, these increase in complexity and functionality as the function number increases. Function #5, firmware 6715 is a single-transmitter switcher similar to function #2, but the single transmitter is connected to Casing instead of Line. Function #6, firmware 6716 is like function #5, but when trouble is detected closes the actuator instead of opening it, unlike all the other switchers here. Click the pictures for larger versions.
Functions #7 and #8, firmware 6717 and 6728 respectively, implement the traditional PDL5 functionality with digital transmitters, machine-threaded cylinders, and Nickel-Metal Hydride Batteries (NiMH). Click the pictures for larger versions.
Function #7 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 1-TR digital submersible flow meter application.
Function #7 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 1-TR digital submersible flow meter application.
Capability: Flow recording only, no switching.
Function #1 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 3-TR digital submersible flow meter application.
Function #8 CDi3s.FTe, CorvetteI in a 2-TR digital submersible flow meter application.
Capability: Flow+Casing recording only, no switching.
